John Townes Van Zandt （1944年3月7日 - 1997年1月1日），更名為Townes Van Zandt，是美國創作歌手。 他對詩歌般的，通常英雄悲傷的歌曲廣受好評。在Emmylou Harris第一次推廣的六年後的1983年，Willie Nelson和Merle Haggard報導了他的歌曲“Pancho and Lefty”，在Billboard鄉村音樂榜上名列第一。 他一生中大部分時間都在各種潛水酒吧度過，經常住在便宜的汽車旅館房間和偏僻小木屋。在20世紀70年代的大部分時間裡，他住在一個沒有電或簡單電話的簡易小屋裡。

他患有一系列的吸毒成癮，酗酒，並且患有躁鬱症的精神病診斷。在他年輕的時候，這種現在無人信服的胰島素休克療法消除了他長期記憶的大部分。
