歷史
KaySöhl和鍵盤手VolkerSöhl和Matthias Harder於1990年創立了“Temporal Temptation”樂隊。那年夏天，Sylvan的最終創始人首次在德國演唱了大部分硬搖滾，只有一點點進步的搖滾樂。
1990年秋季，樂隊改名為變色龍，成為變化的象徵。專輯作品類似早期的Marillion封面，從未發行。 1991年夏天，Marko Heisig加入了變色龍，擔任主唱和貝斯手。在一九九二年至一九九四年間，他們的音樂變得陰沉而進取。 1992年，變色龍的第一個官方演示磁帶發行。隨著Matthias Koops作為主唱，第二張官方演示錄像帶被錄下。標題是奴隸，其歌曲列表是時間，奴隸，終身之鏡，童年夢想。
1995年，客座音樂家MarcoGlühmann加入樂隊，錄製了第三和最後的演示錄像帶。軌道列表是Beren和Luthien，Golden Cage和Outro。所有這些歌曲都以某種方式進入了Deliverance專輯。

西爾萬曾經使用過幾個貝司手，但是在2000年春天，塞巴斯蒂安·哈納克永久地擔當了這個角色。在發布Encounters之後，樂隊在德國巡迴演出，在歐洲乃至墨西哥巡迴演出了幾個節日。另外一個亮點就是Encounters / Das Rockballet與“新舞蹈項目”的表現。 2002年10月，西爾萬發行了第三張專輯“人造天堂”。
Sylvan的第四張專輯X-Rayed聽起來更加粗糙和更黑，另一個概念專輯，每首歌曲都講述了處理情緒狀況的人物故事。 2004年的德國和歐洲巡迴演出，在美國賓夕法尼亞州的春節儀式上亮相，並在科隆向Marillion提供支持。
西爾文隨後製作了兩張專輯，兩張專輯於2006年4月發行。後來的沉默在復雜的音樂中描繪了一位父親，他讀了他顯然死了的女兒的日記，並學習了她的絕望。預設有更短和更流行的歌曲，使Sylvan的音樂對更廣泛的搖滾樂迷而聞名。
完成這項工作後不久，創始人和吉他手凱·索爾（KaySöhl）離開了樂隊。他在2007年年底被替換為在賓夕法尼亞州靜音現場表演之後的吉他手Jan Petersen。
