歷史
Chanticleer於1978年由男高音歌手Louis Botto創立，直到1989年才與該組合唱歌，並於1997年擔任藝術總監直到艾滋病逝世。作為音樂學的研究生，Botto發現他的許多中世紀和文藝復興時期的音樂學習沒有被執行，因此，他組成了一個全男性合奏團體來演奏這個音樂，因為它在文藝復興時期是傳統的唱法。

2007年5月，Chanticleer發行了一首由五位當代作曲家創作的新作“大地之爭，和平：華納經典”（Warner Classics）。以色列出生的作曲家舒拉米特·蘭給希伯來文“Ani Ma'amin”寫了信條。美國作曲家道格拉斯·庫莫（Douglas Cuomo）為凱里（Kyrie）土耳其裔美國作曲家卡姆蘭·因斯（Kamran Ince）將格洛麗亞（Gloria）部分寫成了蘇菲文本;英國作曲家伊万·穆迪組成的聖人;和愛爾蘭作曲家Michael McGlynn（Anúna的導演）組成了Agnus Dei。彌撒在紐約大都會藝術博物館首演，隨後在整個舊金山灣區演出六場。
