本名Aretha Louise Franklin的艾瑞莎富蘭克林以其福音藍調的唱腔及寬廣的歌域，享譽歌壇數十年。無論爵士、福音、靈魂、搖滾、流行、藍調甚至歌劇都能駕馭自如，讓人聽後無不陶醉，故有靈魂樂皇后之美名。1968年到1975年她史無前例地連續8年贏得葛萊美最佳節奏藍調女歌手的獎項，於是有人將這個獎取了綽號叫’The Aretha Award’，可見她在流行歌壇尊榮的地位。這張世紀典藏收錄她在哥倫比亞唱片公司1960-1965期間的錄音，包括流行、靈魂、福音、爵士、藍調等類型的經典歌曲。這個時期的艾瑞莎富蘭克林深受前輩歌手Dinah Washington和Sam Cooke的影響。歌曲無論是帶有爵士風味的情歌，還是藍調標準歌曲，皆能感受這位靈魂天后豐美動人的唱腔。
